Many changes have been brought about in artifacts and production processes due to the current industrial revolution. The crafts made by hand are now-a-days so different from the crafts made by machine in an industrial unit. For example shoes made by a cobbler are so different from those made in shoes industry. Utensils made from different metals, plastic etc are different in characteristics and production process from pottery made of clay or other material made by hand. Similarly, the cloth made manually by hand is so much different from the cloth made in textile mills. Furniture now is made through machines by using solid wood rather than veneers. The jewelry industry benefited from mass production techniques. Machines were developed to make stamping whole pieces of jewelry from thin sheets of metal are so much different from ornaments made by hand.
A comparison between cultural products (artifacts) and commercial products is given below which shows that what changes occurred in various artifacts.
